The Princess and the Frog Held Over

The Princess and the Frog Poster

The week of January 1, 2010 - January 7, 2010 we continue our holiday showing of Disney's newest Princess film, The Princess and the Frog.

The people at Disney return to their roots with their first hand-drawn animation in years in this modern retelling of The Princess and the Frog.

Tiana is a hard-working young woman, waitressing and saving her money to open her own restaurant. Prince Naveen is an arrogant, carefree young man.

Tiana's and Naveen's paths cross when she is catering a dinner at her friend's house which will make her enough money to put a down payment on the restaurant of her dreams. After having spilled something on her clothes, her friend, Charlotte, loans her a dress, complete with tiara. Having finished dressing, she finds herself faced by a frog. Thinking she is a princess, for only the kiss of a princess will return him to human form, the frog tells her he is a prince who has been transformed by a voodoo magician, and that if she will but kiss him, he will become a prince again. Tiana does so, but rather than the frog becoming a prince, she becomes a frog.

Their adventure begins, and in their search for help to break free of the spell and again be able to pursue their dreams, they meet a trumpet-playing crocodile, a Cajun firefly, and an old blind lady who lives in a boat in a tree.

A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol Poster

It's time to get in the Christmas spirit, so the week of December 11, 2009 - December 17, 2009 we are excited to be bringing you the newest version of the classic Dickens Christmas story, A Christmas Carol, an animated film starring Jim Carrey as the voice of Ebenezer Scrooge.

If you don't know the story, Ebenezer Scrooge is a miser, interested only in money. One Christmas Eve he is awakened by spirits, the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, who reveal to him his own miserable existence, what opportunities he wasted in his youth, his current cruelties, and the fate that awaits him if he does not change his ways. Faced with his own story of growing bitterness and meanness, Scrooge must decide what his own future will hold: death or redemption.

I don't know about you, but this story is a tradition in our family. Every year we either read the original Dickens, or watch some film version of the many that have been made. This year, we share this tradition with you.
