We regret to announce that the power supply for the lamphouse went out Friday evening, I haven't been able to get it repaired, and won't be able to get parts for it until the new week begins.
As a result, we will be closed Saturday and Sunday, March 8th and 9th, 2008. We should be able to be back on the screen next weekend, and will be trying to keep The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything for an extra week. As soon as I have more information, I will send out an update.
Thank you for your patience and for choosing to frequent the Ambridge Family Theatre.
Three misfits - Elliot (Larry the Cucumber), Sedgewick (Mr. Lunt) and George (Pa Grape) - are busboys at the Pieces of Ate Dinner Theatre, but they dream of putting on their own show about pirates. As they fantasize, a strange ball drops from the sky. This "Helpseeker" from the past is looking for heroes to rescue a royal family from an evil tyrant in the 17th century. The three have to face their fears to rescue the royal family from the tyrant, and themselves from leading lives as couch potatoes.
The weekend of February 29th we will be presenting The Bucket List, starring Morgan Freedman and Jack Nicholson.
Edward Cole and Carter Chambers have nothing in common. Nothing, that is, except they are both terminally ill with cancer and share a hospital room. They write a bucket list - things they want to do before they die, and decide to stop waiting to die, and complete their bucket lists. So they escape the cancer ward to complete their lists. In the process, they become friends, help to heal each other, and find the joy in life, even as they are dying.
The weekend of February 22nd we are happy to be showing the comedy First Sunday.
Durell, played by Ice Cube, and LeeJohn, played by Tracy Morgan, are best friends and not very good small time crooks. Durell has gotten one thing right in his life, though. He has a son who he tries to be a good father to. When he learns the boy's mother will be moving to Atlanta with the boy if she doesn't raise $17,000 to buy her beauty shop, and when LeeJohn has a large bill come due, they decide to rob the local church to get the money. Unfortunately for them, when they go to rob the church they find out the money is already missing and there are parishioners in the church.
They get to ask themselves, What to do? What to do?
The weekend of February 15th we are celebrating Valentine's Day with P.S. I Love You.
Holly Kennedy, played by Hilary Swank, is married to the love of her life - a passionate and impetuous Irishman named Gerry, played by Gerard Butler. When Gerry's life is taken by an illness, the only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there, Gerry.
But before he died, Gerry wrote Holly a series of letters that will guide her through her grief and in rediscovering living. The first message arrives on Holly's 30th birthday. In the weeks and months that follow, more letters from Gerry are delivered in surprising ways, each sending her on a new adventure and each signing off in the same way; P.S. I Love You. Holly's mother and best friends begin to worry that Gerry's letters are keeping Holly tied to the past, but in fact, each letter is pushing her further into a new future. With Gerry's words as her guide, Holly embarks on a journey of rediscovery in a story about marriage, friendship and how a love so strong can turn the finality of death into a new beginning for life.
