Source Code

Source Code Poster

The weekend of April 29, 2011 - May 1, 2011 we will be showing the science fiction thriller Source Code, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monoghan.

Colter Stevens is a US army helicopter pilot who has crashed in Afghanistan. When he comes to, he finds himself in civilian clothes aboard a crowded commuter train arriving slightly late into Chicago on a glorious summer morning. He appears to be in someone else's body: that of a suburban teacher. Opposite him sits Christina who behaves as if a brief nap has merely interrupted their highly flirtatious conversation, but she is then increasingly alarmed as Colter, wild-eyed and panicky, demands to know what is happening and what is going on.

After eight minutes, a catastrophic event then hurls Colter back into a situation that is in some ways even more perplexing. He is in uniform, injured and immobilised in what appears to be part of a wrecked military aircraft. Is this real? Or is it the train that's real? Through a video monitor, he must communicate with a woman, Goodwin, who is evidently now his commanding officer.

Without consenting, Colter has evidently been dragooned into a new mission using futurist technology known as "source code"; he has been brought back from Afghanistan – or has he? – and ordered to relive the past eight minutes on a Chicago commuter train over and over again until he discovers vital information. Each time around discloses more clues; each makes Colter fall for Christina a little more, and each makes the thought of losing her seem more unbearable.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules Poster

The weekend of April 22, 2011 - April 24, 2011 the wimpy kid is back as we happily present Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules.

You remember Greg Hefley, the kid who made 'wimpy' cool in Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

Now he's back. Summer vacation is over, and Greg is in the seventh grade. He has an older brother, Rodrick, who, as older brothers will often be, is Greg's biggest tormenter. Greg and Rodrick's parents decide the two brothers aren't close enough, so they begin a series of misguided attempts to get the two to bond.

If you've ever been a kid, you'll know this can only mean trouble.

Battle: Los Angeles

Battle: Los Angeles Poster

The weekend of April 15, 2011 - April 17, 2011 we will be showing the newest in the alien invasion films, Battle: Los Angeles, starring Aaron Eckhart and Ramon Rodriguez.

You know how Tokyo used to be continually invaded by the likes of Godzilla and Mothra? In our time Los Angeles is the target.

The newest look at this is Battle: Los Angeles. Los Angeles and other cities around the world are being bombarded by meteors that seem to be slowing down once they hit the earth's atmosphere. This is only a prelude to the earth being invaded by space aliens that have landed off the shore of LA, where they begin killing everybody along the beach.

The military is ordered into action to fight the menace. Marine Staff Sergeant Nantz, who was about to retire, is reassigned to a new platoon. The platoon, flown by chopper to the forward operating base at Santa Monica Airport, is being led by a new 2nd Lt. Martinez. They are sent on a mission to rescue some civilians who are trapped at the police station within alien territory. They only have 3 hours to complete their mission and get out before the Air Force bombs that zone.

Rango

Rango Poster

The weekend of April 8, 2011 - April 10, 2011 we will be showing the great new Nickelodean animated feature, Rango, featuring the voices of Johnny Depp and Isla Fisher.

Rango is an ordinary chameleon, a family pet who is facing an identity crisis. To find himself, he goes on a trip, and ends up in Dirt, a lawless town out of the Old West.

There, after accidently killing a hawk, the less than brave chameleon finds himself the last hope of a townspeople who have been waiting for a new sheriff to put an end to their troubles.

Rango finds out that even a chameleon, someone who once went through life trying to only blend in, can become the hero he's dreamed about.

Rango is an exciting new twist on the classic Western legend of the outsider who saves a town - and himself in the process.
