We ordered a new power supply. It was scheduled to be delivered Friday morning, 3/28/08. After waiting for it to arrive, I called the transport company handling delivery. They said the driver was misrouted and would not arrive until the afternoon. Due to our son's wedding, we weren't able to accept delivery in the afternoon, so we had to reschedule delivery until Monday. As a result, we won't be able to have any shows Saturday, 3/29/08, or Sunday, 3/30/08.

We do look forward to opening again. As always, we will post updates here on the website.

Well, things went well Friday night (3/21/08). Unfortunately, when we fired up the projector for the first show on Saturday, the replacement power supply we had gotten blew, tripping the main breaker into the booth as it did so. As a result, we weren't able to show The Spiderwick Chronicles on Saturday and we have to get another power supply, as well as an electrician to check the wiring to the booth.

Glenda will be talking to a supplier today about a new power supply. We're hoping to be able to be on the screen Saturday and Sunday this weekend, but until we know a little more we won't know if we will for sure. We'll be sure to keep you updated.

We are happy to announce that our power supply problems appear to be over. A friend has given us a power supply that I've been able to get going to power the lamphouse, so we can be back on the screen presenting films for your enjoyment. Thank you Dennis, and thanks to all of you for your patience and support. I didn't realize how much I would miss spending weekends with you at your local theatre.

The weekends of March 21st and March 28th we will be presenting The Spiderwick Chronicles. We will be keeping this film for two weeks.

The Spiderwick Chronicles is a condensation of the award-winning series of books by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi - The Field Guide, The Seeing Stone, Lucinda's Secret, The Ironwood Tree, and The Wrath of Mulgrath.

Helen Grace (played by Mary-Louise Parker) is in the middle of a divorce. She, with her twin sons Jared and Simon (played by Freddie Highmore), and her daughter Mallory (played by Sarah Bolger) move from New York to Spiderwick, the strange and spooky house in the country left to her by her aunt.

Jared isn't happy. He doesn't want to be there. He misses his dad. And when things go wrong, he's usually the one blamed.

One day he finds a dumbwaiter that takes him to his Grandfather's study, which has been left untouched since his Grandfather disappeared under mysterious circumstances years ago. In the study Jared finds a 'field guide' to an unseen world right next door to ours, and a 'Seeing Stone' that allows him to see the goblins, spirits, trolls, and other creatures out of fantasy that inhabit that world.

He also finds that things aren't all sweetness and light in the world of fantasy.

Fair warning - Even though this film is rated PG, and the books it is based on are aimed at children in grades 3 - 6, Roger Ebert thinks it should have been rated PG13. Young children will be frightened.

The part we ordered for the lamphouse power supply did come in on Friday. Unfortunately, it didn't fix the problem. After installing it and spending six hours more working on the equipment, things still aren't working. As a result, we're going to have to cancel all shows for this weekend. I do apologize.

As soon as I have the problem resolved, I'll send another update.

Due to the fact that the parts we ordered still have not arrived, we will not be able to present a film on Friday, March 14, 2008. Our suppliers assure us that the parts will definitely be here today. I hope so. As soon they do arrive, I will be installing them.
